That's how it is in autoconf and I wanted to keep it as similar as possible to get no surprises once we can actually use the autoconf macros. Sure. I can make that change. I found out one other change that is required. These calls must be made before AC_PROG_CXXCPP and AC_PROG_CCPP in order to include the right flags in the preprocessor. I have attached a revised cset.
