It is possible to do so, although we haven't got plans to support it.
Since OpenEXR builds static linking libs with the DLLs, you get the
convenience of a static lib, minus the link time.

If you have a strong need to build OpenEXR statically, remove the
OPENEXR_DLL preprocessor definition in the project settings, and change
the target type to static lib.
