I don't believe rebuilding is an option on a minimum installation
with no compiler and source code installed.
Neither should this be the preferred method for end users, who
shouldn't have to (and often won't) install the development stuff.

In this particular case, it's manily gtkspell that needd be rebuilt,
which I also indicate near the end of my posting.
In addition to changing the GTK2 dependency, of course.

Judging from other postings, there have been a number of crashes
related to spell checking, so it's not certain that rebuilding
solves the problem.

BTW, your reply doesn't clearly indicate if you are referring to the
gtkspell or GTK2 issue.  I suggest you put your comments after the
text you're commenting, instead of top-posting.
