GTK2 often tries to do clever things involving hardware acceleration, etc
and assumes that you're running programs on a local X server. If not
handled properly, this can cause the occasional crash.
For example, on my box Mozilla (GTK2 version) over VNC will not work, but
Galeon (GTK2 version) will!
