Some nodes on the Net only update their newsfeeds, or their newsservers,
manually, or on a schedule. If you had one (or maybe more) of those
between you and the feed you follow, it could happen easily. Does all the
time, for instance, on rec.hunting ...

(Btw, speaking of r.h, it can also take longer on a moderated group,
especially a busy one.)
