There's something to be said for actually having the whole thing with 
you, in one piece, without having to track however many different USB 
sticks or external hard drives, and without having to pay the equivalent 
of a new netbook at least, every year, for mobile broadband!  (OTOH, at 
some point the prices have to drop and the caps increase to where it's 
reasonable to consider dropping the fixed broadband service, at which 
point the additional fee for mobile broadband doesn't look so expensive.)
