Hi all,

until recently, pan was available as a pre-compiled binary with the
OpenSuSE Tumbleweed distribution. Seems like the latest major Tumbleweed
update removed that binary, so now I'm trying to compile pan 0.142
myself (directly downloaded from pan.rebelbase.com).

After installing a few additional library packages, I can get the
"./configure" to run without obvious errors; here's the end of the
output from that:

Configuration:

        Prefix: /usr/local
        Source code location: .
        Compiler:               g++
        With D-Bus: no
        With GMime 2.6+: yes
        With GMime crypto: yes
        With GtkSpell: no
        With GTK+ 3: no
        With WebKitGTK+: no
        With GnuTLS: no
        With libnotify: no
        With password storage: no
        With yelp-tools: yes
        With user manual: no

But when I call "make", the thing fails with the following error
message:

> make
make all-recursive
make[1]: Entering directory '/home/jow/News/pan/pan-0.142'
Making all in .
make[2]: Entering directory '/home/jow/News/pan/pan-0.142'
  GEN pan.appdata.xml
/usr/bin/msgfmt: cannot locate ITS rules for pan.appdata.xml.in
make[2]: *** [Makefile:1002: pan.appdata.xml] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory '/home/jow/News/pan/pan-0.142'
make[1]: *** [Makefile:571: all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/jow/News/pan/pan-0.142'
make: *** [Makefile:447: all] Error 2

Any suggestions what's wrong? I'll admit that it's been a day or two
(or three :->) since my last attempt to build something (anything, not
just pan) from the sources, so I'm at a complete loss...

Oh... by the way... the "README" in the main directory refers to a
separate "INSTALL" documentation, but that seems to be missing...?

Thanks,

Jürgen
