Hi there. I recently ran into a bug in this program.

This command “parallel echo ::: A B C ::: D E F” produced this output:

parallel: This should not happen. You have found a bug.

Please contact <parallel@gnu.org> and include:

* The version number: 20151122

* The bugid: pidtable format: 14271 14269

* The command line being run

* The files being read (put the files on a webserver if they are big)

If you get the error on smaller/fewer files, please include those instead.

alalpmod003 ~> parallel echo ::: A B ::: C D

This utility had worked (great) in the past so was surprised by it. I’ve written perl previously so debugged it and found the process that was causing the problem:

ps -U yuryan01 -Hfww

UID        PID  PPID  C STIME TTY          TIME CMD

yuryan01 14269     1  0 Dec11 ?        00:00:00 SCREEN -t MRC

yuryan01 14271 14269  0 Dec11 pts/252  00:00:00

yuryan01 14274 14269  0 Dec11 pts/255  00:00:00   /bin/bash

yuryan01 20507 14269  0 Dec11 pts/31   00:00:00   /bin/bash

Once I deleted that process, parallel works again. PID 14271 was a bash session, I don’t know why the command name no longer showed up, but it wasn’t hung or in some other crazy state.

Anyway, thought I would let you know and also congratulate you on a fine program. Works very well.
