FYI. I have commited to the trunk the implementation of a quite simple filter: the ASCII Hex encoder. It is in base/src/pdf-stm-f-ahex.[ch]. The filter maintains an internal state and has an end-of-data mark, so it may be used as a reference on how to use the 'state' and 'finish_p' parameters.
