Patrick,

        We should probably take this over to bugs.gentoo.org since this doesn't
appear to be a perlpanel specific bug. For sanity's sake, I just ran the
below and after emerge'ing everything (including some re-emerge's)
everything is working for me now. I'd love to know the combination that
broke, but running at the latest in portage for each (including a
re-build of most - maybe a patched gtk2 or glib in the process?) seems
to have done the trick.

emerge -av gtk+ hicolor-icon-theme XML-Parser glib-perl gtk2-perl
gnome2-wnck gtk2-gladexml gtk2-traymanager gnome2-vfs-perl
