[Phpgroupware-developers] question about usage of phpgw's lang mechanism

Hello,

when I worked on integrating sitemgr into the lang mechanism, there
was something I was not sure about:
On sitemgr's setup page there are explanations to the right of each
preference. These are mostly long phrases like

"This is used chiefly for meta data and the title bar. If you change
the site languages below you have to save before being able to set
this preference for a new language."

I had the impression that the lang function is meant for translating
labels and short phrases in the UI, but not whole explanation
texts. So without asking further, I left these texts out.
But they certainly should be made available for translations to other
languages.

So my question is: Should we pass these texts through the lang
function, or is there an alternative mechanism, that is preferable for
performance reasons?
