Mysterious ..... I also used the mandrake packages (mdk 9rc2).

The only difference between Luciano's machine and mine seems to be the way we 
did the installation.
Because Luciano made a completely new installation (incl. formated hd) and I 
updated the packages only (from mdk 8.2).
