After running 'libtoolize' and 'make -f admin/Makefile.common' before the other
steps it worked fine.

Is this procedure really neccessary for the source packages too?

no, it is not. I just updated my mustux and protux cvs checkouts, ran 'libtoolize ; make -f admin/Makefile.common ; ./configure --with-QT2', ran 'make dist', copied tar balls to new dirs, untarred those and then ran in both mustux_disttest and protux_disttest:
        ./configure --with-QT2
        make
        sudo make install

and everythin went fine.

ps. but I were wrong, when I earlier said that admin dir can be added by hand because it should be empty in distribution... Ofcourse it is not empty; there are all those files which libtool adds there so that libtool is no longer needed in distribution... silly me.
