see if you can get a copy of Kurumin - The Mini Linux boot cd. It will
run an almost full Linux system. I'm sure you can tweak it, and add CVS
and other programs, so you can run GNU/Linux from your friends machine
on a CD, and commit to CVS. . .

Its easy to be customized, and will enable you to take it to work, or
something like that. It even fits on a 200mb CD!!! its really cool.
