Hi John,

I actually did this:

setenv PKG_CONFIG_PATH /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig

which changed the failure in the log

updated config.log attached.

thanks for the suggestion Ben.  But that leads me to 2 more things.

     1.  I couldn't ignore the warnings because they killed the run keeping it
from producing the .sav file.  Is there a setting that can be changed to allow
for more than 100 warnings?  This does work on SPSS but I don't have SPSS on
our liniux box.

Use SET MXWARNS 0.
As described in the manual
http://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/manual/html_node/SET.html#SET

     2.  We aren't on the newest version because we couldn't get it to install.
We are running CentOS release 5.10 (Final) and we are on PSPP .6.2

I could not get the .8.3 to compile:

     ./configure –without-cairo –without-gui
     ….
     ….
     ….
configure: error: The following required prerequisites are
     not installed.
You must install them before PSPP can be built:
             gsl version 1.13
     or later

     CFMC 8.6 Webcati /d2/admin/keith/pspp-0.8.3>yum list
     |grep gsl
     gsl.i386
     1.13-3.el5
     installed
     gsl-devel.i386
     1.13-3.el5
     base
     gsl-static.i386
     1.13-3.el5
     base

I’ve also compiled and installed gsl 1.9 manually and still
     no go.

That is strange. Can you share the config.log file it should help to find out
why GSL is not detected.
