I'm assuming that you aborted the first backup to that directory
(/dump/backups/studentexchange), otherwise something is wrong. On the
first backup, nothing really gets put into the rdiff-backup-data
directory, since there are no increments yet. So just delete it and
run the backup again, any files already transferred shouldn't be
resent.
