Actually --compare is only for directories.  It tells you which files
have changed and how (e.g. are they new, have they been deleted,
etc.).

It seems the wrong way to go to actually have a --diff switch built
into rdiff-backup.  rdiff-backup would end up just restoring the file
and then diffing it, so there would be no efficiency gain.

Instead, perhaps someone could write an external script which would
restore versions of the file (by calling rdiff-backup) and then run
diff or similar on them.
