Hi,

I posted Martin's comments on Rule Installers in the Wiki and added
more info about slinky, the installer I have been working with.

http://tvsoup.com/phpwiki/phpwiki-1.2.2/index.php?RuleInstallers

I also started a page for the MinimumInstall

http://tvsoup.com/phpwiki/phpwiki-1.2.2/index.php?MinimumInstall

Here's some of what I put on that page that follows the minimum
install thread.

A minimum install might install from basemin_packages instead of
base_packages. Other package lists may also have
minimized versions. I created a candidate basemin_packages by
removing these files from base_packages.

  anacron-2.3-17.i386.rpm
  ash-0.3.7-2.i386.rpm
  crontabs-1.10-1.noarch.rpm
  dosfstools-2.7-1.i386.rpm
  eject-2.0.9-2.i386.rpm
  grub-0.90-11.i386.rpm
  hdparm-4.1-2.i386.rpm
  hotplug-2001_04_24-11.i386.rpm
  mailx-8.1.1-22.i386.rpm
  parted-1.4.16-8.i386.rpm
  pciutils-2.1.8-23.i386.rpm
  procmail-3.21-1.i386.rpm
  quota-3.01pre9-3.i386.rpm
  textutils-2.0.14-2.i386.rpm

Comments appreciated on what above we really need or what is left
we can do without. base_packages is on slinky disk two.

This however only saved about 7 meg. I noticed that files are installed
for every locale and every keyboard. Is it possible to unpack only the
needed files for one locale and one keyboard? This could actually
result in a large disk saving with no loss of functionality for users
needing only one locale and keyboard supported. (most of us)

Thanks,

Hairy Larry
