Details:

I've somehow reached a state where it is impossible to modify a task in the
DDD task tracker. Whenever I try to submit a change, I get the result:

db_query: SQL query error Column 'old_value' cannot be null in [INSERT INTO
`task_history`
(`bug_id`,`field_name`,`old_value`,`new_value`,`mod_by`,`date`,`spamscore`,`ip`,`type`)
VALUES
('8855','planned_starting_date',NULL,1231718400,'67545',1231753042,0,'194.74.226.190','NULL')]

I suspect I may be able to work around the problem by reconfiguring the field
to not log changes in history. Still, I don't know how I got here, and it
seems to be a bug.
