        You can

        cvs delete -f directory

        and then when you

        cvs update -P 

        it will not show anymore.

        I'm not sure if you're aware of this possibility (-P to prune empty
directories). If you already know that but find this inconvenient anyway,
please tell us and we will remove the directory manually.
