        Hi,

        Because of pending patents
        (http://www.w3.org/2001/07/SVG10-IPR-statements.html) it is
        not possible to write Free Software that implements SVG.  To
        my knowledge it's the first example of a proposed standard
        whose usability is encumbered by a patent.

        This is very unfortunate and you probably know much more than I
        do on this subject. 

        If you know of a way to change this situation, please submit your
        project again explaining how it could be done.
