A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Andrea Negro <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: lgpl
Other License:
Package: Ainulindale
System name: ainulindale
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
It is a online rpg, a mmorpg. Fisrt we\'ll develop the basic framework,
including the world system and rules, along with the low-level stuff (sockets,
uni/multicast, threading, and so on). In first instance the Crystal Space 3D
engine will be used (crystalspace.sourceforge.net), a GPL, non commercial
engine, but we consider also developing and using a new engine from a scratch,
in another project. Eventually, we\'ll use the framework to create three games,
each based respectively on the first, second and third Ages of Tolkien\'s
novels. The framework will include both server and client: the former will be
developed mainly for Linux, while the latter will be cross-platform, thanks to
Crystal Space which works under Windows, Linux, Mac, Ps2 and others. We wll
focus on lotr for our games, but the framework can be used by anyone to create
any world, freely. To achieve this objective, the rule system of the world will
be the most parametrized possible. We will use .png or .jpeg textures, not
.gif. Nearly almost mmorpg are aviable only paying a fee: Ainulindale tries to
raise as a free chioce in this new branch of gaming world. It does not exist
yet but we\'re working on it.
