Why should savannah support non-free browsers like Netscape?
Use a free browser like Mozilla or Galeon (Mozilla based).

Personaly, I missed the point.
Cookies permit many things nice. About security, I dont
think it's an issue. About privacy, it depends much of websites.
Mozilla (or Galeon) can filter cookies by website. I thinks
this is future (this is a good idea, others browser should
copy it), more than wasting time to remove usefull cookies
from savannah.
But it's only my point of view & I'm not member of FSF staff.
