In fact, the password is empty, not "anoncvs".
It worked for me.

Someone trying to use the CVS for rubik reported that
anonomous access doesn't work.
When I try it, using `anoncvs' as the password, I
always am refused login:
bash-2.05a$ cvs
-d:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/rubik login
Logging in to
:pserver:address@hidden:2401/cvsroot/rubik
CVS password:
cvs login: authorization failed: server
subversions.gnu.org rejected access to /cvsroot/rubik
for user anoncvs
