Eli Gottlieb <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Snootix Package Manager
System name: spm
Type: non-GNU

Description:
The Snootix Package Manager is a package management program written to automate
the compiling of source code packages. It is written in C++, and should run
under a base GNU/Linux system. I think it might run under other Unices as
well. The cspmfile.h header contains a description of the spm file format, and
its relation to the C++ class declared in that header to interpret these
files. Spm files can be created with the cat command or any other way of
editing text files. When run, the program opens the specified package file and
extracts dependency listings, a tar.bz2 of the source/binaries (it\\\'s up to
the package developer), configuration instructions, and instructions to build
and install the package from the tar.bz2\\\'s contents. It then checks an
/etc/spm.list file for the dependencies, but a flag can turn off this behavior.
It then unpacks the tar.bz2 in /usr/src/, appends user-submitted configuration
parameters to the configure command, runs it to configure the source, and runs
the build and install script. Finally, the source is deleted. The code is
licensed under the GPL and copyrighted to me. To get the source code email me,
because I still need to get hosting to put this on the internet. I want this
to become a part of the GNU project, as I believe some form of package
management is needed for most people to use computers. If this were to happen
I would want the project renamed the GNU Package Manager.
