I tried to download gcc using CVS with the command:
export CVS_RSH="ssh"
cvs -z3 -d:ext:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gcc co gcc
I get a response:
cvs server: cannot find module `gcc' - ignored
cvs server: cannot find module `benchmarks' - ignored
cvs server: cannot find module `testrun' - ignored
cvs server: cannot find module `boehm-gc' - ignored
cvs [checkout aborted]: cannot expand modules
Browsing the CVS repository,
http://savannah.gnu.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs/gcc/ I see:
CVSROOT/ <http://savannah.gnu.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs/gcc/CVSROOT/>
