Package: Intense
System name: intense
Type: GNU

Description:
The Intense Project is a collection of C++, Java
and Perl libraries for the creation and manipulation
of hierarchical intensional context. This context
is directly useable as an efficient pervasive context
for intensional programming, where the semantics of
a program vary at runtime, using the context as medium
of pervasive runtime configuration management.

Intense also supplies an active context called an
aether, in which registered participants can listen
to changes in the context and react intensionally to
the changes as they occur.

Further, Intense supplies an active context server
and client libraries for an associated aether
protocol (AEP), allowing distributed access to the
aether and the creation of distributed intensional
systems. These are collections of disparate processes,
whose collective runtime sematics varies with changes
in the distributed aether.

Other Software Required:
The C++ libraries make extensive use of the gcc 3.x STL
implementation.

Sun JDK base libraries are currently used (java.lang, java.util),
but will be ported to an open source solution as time permits.

The Perl libraries (limited XS wrapper of the C++ libintense) are
currenly only for Perl 5.8.0
