SFT, stream formatting tool, allows for simple formatting of a stream.
SFT can number lines, where a newline is encountered, as well as
remove spaces and tabs from its input, akin to column -t.  SFT's
"algorithm" for space and tab removal is quicker than that of
column's.

Since sft can remove spaces and tabs, as well as number lines, it's
ideal for certain tasks.  Such as numbering lines in source code,
removing spaces and tabs when viewing files in the proc filesystem, or
simply removing tabs and spaces from output from other programs.
