Category: Developer CVS
Priority: 5 - Normal
Severity: 5 - Average
Resolution: None
Privacy: Public
Assigned to: mjflick
Originator Email:
Status: Closed

Summary: CVS Permission denied

Original Submission: Cannot access CVS as project admin,

In the ~/.ssh directory, there is a file "config" containing Protocol 2.

Typed "ssh-keygen -t dsa" at the prompt, after entering a passphrase, have a
file ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub

Copied the contents of ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub to
https://savannah.gnu.org/account/editsshkeys.php (just the key, no linebreaks,
spaces)

After more then an hour, still cannot access:
(export CVS_RSH=ssh)
cvs -z3 -d address@hidden:/cvsroot/donorge co donorge
address@hidden's password:
Permission denied, please try again.

Using Debian unstable, ssh -v gives:
OpenSSH_3.8.1p1 Debian-8.sarge.3, OpenSSL 0.9.7e 25 Oct 2004

What is the problem? SSH2 access works fine elsewhere.

Hi, yes that was the problem. Perhaps it should be added to the guidelines to
copy the whole contents of the file (for grumps like me).

Thanks for the help.

After more than an hour after you said you waited for an hour, it looks like
the key is still not copied.

Did you copy all the contents of id_dsa.pub, or did you by chance leave out
something from it?

SSH keys are updated on Savannah hourly by a cronjob.

Wait an hour, try again, and report here whether it worked or not.
