[Savannah-help-public] Can't check in Emacs files!

The problem seems to have spread to Emacs files too.
Two hours ago I was able to check them in; now I can't.

There is now an item down in the "News" section; that location is
inadequately visible.  Please put it at the top of the page.

Meanwhile, the news item does not give me the information I need.  It
only tells me how to make a new checkout.  I have lots of uncommitted
changes in my directory, and I don't want to risk losing them.

You must tell me--and the public--a convenient way of fixing an
existing checkout so that it continues to work!

Meanwhile, when you make changes like this, you need to warn people
before making the change.  What did you do to inform people?
