Description:
------------
        I am attempting to clone a 2D side-scrolling action video game. It's
titled "Silencer" and was originally produced by Mind Control Software. The
networking technology was produced and hosted by WON.NET but for one reason or
another, they decided to stop supporting Silencer in May 2001, around the time
they were merging with Sierra Games. This meant that from then on you could
only play the offline "Tutorial" mode which wasn't really a game at all.

Silencer was a space/hacker-themed shooter which was set in the future
on
Mars. Silencer agents working for independent organizations would hack
government facilities in order to reveal their corrupt secrets. It featured
several maps, RPG-style statistics (levels, techs, etc) and in-game chat.

Silencer has been "dead" for about 5 years now but there is still a
surviving
community of veteran Silencer players who have had a 5-year-long passion of
reviving the game. One of the community's leaders now has an internship with
Mind Control and the specific task of re-coding the network play portion. But
it is closed source and always will be closed source and production is very
slow.

The founder of Mind Control is Andrew Leker and my project's name is
SIL,
standing for SIL Isn't Leker's. I'm developing it using Python + pygame and
intend to release my work under the GNU GPL pending approval from Andrew
Leker.

Other Comments:
---------------
I am currently the only SIL developer with occasional contributions from one
other Silencer community programmer. There's still a lot of work to do.
