  We aim to produce a SANE scanner driver for Tamarack Artiscan 9600/600C.
Currently we have a small program (not released) which could scan an image
(grey or color). The reason why we did not release anything is that is
currently in early stages. We (me and Enrico Boldrini, see
http://www2.autistici.org/tamarhack/) mainly spend a lot of time trying to
detect scanner protocol. Note that this program was produced with protocol
analisy (we don't used reverse engineering!!) using wine and executing the
scanner program (windows version). We intend to release software using LGPL.
The main reason to not use GPL is that in a future it will be possible for
someone to implement driver for different systems without problems.

Other Software Required:

  Currently driver use only libc but We aim to use libieee1284
(http://cyberelk.net/tim/libieee1284/, GPL) and SANE
(http://www.sane-project.org/, GPL).
