ChessDB http://chessdb.sourceforge.net/ is the most fully functional free
chess database available. It is a serious competitor to commercial products
such as ChessBase, Chess Assistant and similar chess databases. ChessDB runs
on Windows, Linux, OS X, Solaris, FreeBSD and should run on most UNIX and
UNIX-like operating systems.

WITChessDB provides a web-based interface to ChessDB, allowing an online
database of chess games to be searched on the web, using a browser, in a
similar way that is is possible to search games on Chessbases's web site
http://www.chesslive.de/. 

WITChessDB uses a PHP script to interface to the underlying command line
tools that are used in ChessDB, in a very similar way as WITM
(http://witm.sourceforge.net/) provides a web based interface to the command
line tools in the commercial mathematics program Mathematica 
http://www.wolfram.com/products/mathematica/

Currently there is no source code, hence I am providing no link. But since I
am the main developer of ChessDB I know I can implement this is the same was
I implemented WITM to provide a web interface to Mathematica. 

I have used Sourceforge for both ChessDB and WITM, but have decided not to
for WITChessDB, as I am fed up with the volume of ads on their web site, and
the huge downtimes on their shell services.
