Just to add a bit more info. Liz Kendall is just up the
road from me here, and I know that she has been doing
more recent work on agent design patterns. Have a look
at her web page:
http://www.cse.rmit.edu.au/~rdsek
There you can access 2 other related papers of hers:
1. "The Layered Agent Pattern Language", and
2. "A Java Application Framework for Agent Based Systems"
There are a lot of useful *patterns* in her work, but note
that the emphasis has been more on *intentional* agents.
