Here is the original citation:
The Convergence and Stability of Cultures.
Axelrod, Robert.
SFI Working Paper 95-03-028.
I don't know where that was published in a journal.
Here is a related paper on a project to embed
axelrod's model in a SugarScape based system:
Aligning Simulation Models: A Case Study and Results
Axtell, Robert, Axelrod, Robert, Epstein, Joshua, and Cohen, Michael.
SFI Working Paper 95-07-065.
That was also published in The Journal of Computational and Mathematical
Organization Theory.
Here is a cite to some related (vaguely) work:
Modeling Social Change with Cellular Automata.
Nowak, Andrzej and Lewenstein, Maciej. (1996)
Pp 249-285 in Modeling and Simulation in the Social Sciences
from a Philosophical Point of View.
Hegselmann etal., eds. Kluwer, Boston.
Nowak etal have a bunch of papers describing that
line of work. See
http://www.pscs.umich.edu/EDUCATION/530-W99/readings.html
for a few more citations.

Swarm-Modelling is for discussion of Simulation and Modelling techniques
esp. using Swarm. For list administration needs (esp. [un]subscribing),
please send a message to <address@hidden> with "help" in the
