If you have the package of demonstration programs, (? is it swarmapps?),
you can unzip it wherever you like. I put mine in a different directory
than swarm home for future upgrade purposes.
Assuming your swarm program is installed correctly, all you have to do is
edit the makefile and fix the first line so that it tells where you
installed the swarm distribution. Most everybody tries heatbugs first.
If you are like everyone else I've ever heard of, you'll not have success
on the first try, but keep on trying, eventually it will work. If it does
work the first time, please send me a not about how you installed swarm,
especially if you used the binary method.
If you need some installation tips, I've been revising the swarm FAQ and
have collected lots of little bits about what can go wrong. Until I build
a new table of contents, it is sitting on my pathetically little linux
page:
http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/linux.
The install notes are in FAQ, part 2.
