I installed the new snapshot, which works fine. Thanks. Also, after being unable to use the startx command within GNOME, which boots by default, I read up and realized that GNOME was responsible for my color problems. Rather than bothering to fix it, I just switched to KDE and heatbugs and other raster based simulations run just fine.
Finally, I uninstalled Swarm from my Win98 computer at the law school and reinstalled it to solve the problems I was having at the end of last month. This works well also.
So... end of happy tail... I now have two fully capable Swarm setups and can get back to coding. My next projects are a "schema" simulation of political cognition and a simulation based on Marx's Dialectical Materialism. Thanks again for all the help.
