how to use images in simulations

Hi everyone,
I started to use Swarm and I just completed the swarm Tutorial (java
version).

Do you know how can I use in my simulations small images (.bmp,.gif,...)
to represent bugs, etc. ? or do you know where to find useful
documentation and/or code about it ?

I saw in the demo applications that "antsort" simulation uses .png files
to dsplay ants, but I didn't find the code of that.
