it does. No reason why it shouldn't.

I'd check your file. Wouldn't work for me, even when I'd slimmed it down.
Lots of odd characters inside it. Corrupt?  What are you editing it with?

Also, should you happen to be running server side, then make sure the web
server can access the file, i.e. check permissions.  If incorrect, then it
can cause the loadXML command to simply bail out. ( Which is exactly what
it appears to be doing ).

ttbomk, makes no difference.
