[Swftools-common] swftools gfx install fails on osx

My environment:

osx snow leopard

python 2.7

freetype and PIL installed

I got the latest stable version and did python setup.py build and it failed with compileerror not being available. Once I removed compileerror references it started failing on freetype detection. Does anyone have any pointers as to how I should proceed.
