[Texmacs-dev] Path-aware trees

Hi,

how can I learn more about "Path-aware trees"? What is the "universal 
met-document"? Could you provide a very simple example how to modify parts of 
the tree with scheme?
I just remember obsolete methods like:

(tm-assign path (object->tree sub-tree))

So what is the state of the art now to accomplish this?
