Hello everybody!

I'm fairly new to AVR programming, so my request might not make sense.

How about using the existing programmer infrastructure (connected to MOSI,
MISO, SCK) as a communication channel to the AVR? Like it happens while
programming, only with RESET high.

As this hardware is already here, it would be an easy way to get debug
messages or control the AVR from the PC.

uisp would send all data from STDIN to the AVR and all received data to
STDOUT. Later it could open a real pty, to allow connection with eg minicom
or another terminal program which knows escape sequences - so the AVR could
even show simple menues.

Does that make sense? All opinions welcome.
