dont' really have any idea about building on windows, but if you want to
play around with cross compiling it would be great, if you could have a
look at the GTK branch. The long term goal is to replace X and Winboard
with just the GTK interface. Which would get rid of lots of problems as
for example the two documentation, different translations, code for
different frontends, etc.

At the moment GTK only builds on linux though. I gave it a quick try
using the mingw toolchain on linux, but there are probably quite a few
things that need to change, would be great, if we would make progress on
that ;)
