commit c4df6041de88f81a9fadc7247701d886496b9ae0
Author: Mattias Engdegård <mattiase@acm.org>
Commit: Mattias Engdegård <mattiase@acm.org>

Since `eql` is the default, this ensures bidirectional compatibility
while reducing the size of the external representation.
