I am pleased to announce the release of Adcd 1.8.

Adcd is a cd player for GNU/Linux with a ncurses (text mode) interface.

Adcd can play all the tracks from a disc in order (linear mode), or in the order specified by the user (playlist mode), and includes all the functions expected in a stand-alone cd player, including random play and loop mode.

Adcd also features a non-interactive mode for those who want to play their CDs while using the console for something else.

Most probably the CD drive needs to be connected to the audio card through an analog audio cable for adcd to be able to play the CD. You may also need a mixer program like rexima to activate the audio card.

The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/adcd/adcd.html

The sources can be downloaded from http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/adcd/

The sha256sum is:
66fb93995ac6806a2fcb660f12c6d2e8fbf84701bc6ce83c344f48202cb286e2 adcd-1.8.tar.lz

This release is also GPG signed. You can download the signature by appending '.sig' to the URL. If the 'gpg --verify' command fails because you don't have the required public key, then run this command to import it:

  gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 8FE99503132D7742

Key fingerprint = 1D41 C14B 272A 2219 A739  FA4F 8FE9 9503 132D 7742

Changes in version 1.8:

  * Maintenance release.

  * Arg_parser has been updated.

  * 'main' now sets a valid invocation_name even if argc == 0.

Please send bug reports and suggestions to address@hidden
