Some citation style may be determined automatically by AUCTeX and
enabled in RefTeX if you have parsing enabled as described on the
first page of AUCTeX's manual and RefTeX is plugged into AUCTeX.

Other than that you can always use file-local variables, see
(info "(emacs)File Variables").  The respective variables are
mentioned in RefTeX's manual, see e.g.
(info "(reftex)varioref (LaTeX package)").
