Can exec ext support finally go in?

The subject says it all.

I once again admit my solution isn't perfect, but
 a) it does/should not break anything
 b) makes life a lot easier for people on DJGPP and
    OS/2

The last discussion trailed away into nothingness with
the question of potentially supporting more complex
forms, but I consider this a very viable workaround
until such time as we have an autowhich or similar tool.

I would REALLY like to see this in 2.51.
