pending Autoconf + Automake patches

Hello Alexandre,  ;-)

For your convenience, I have compiled a list of pending bugfix patches
against Automake again.  The ones listed in this message affect Autoconf
as well, are thus somewhat important for its next release.  It would be
nice to get some kind of feedback on them soonish (where, to me, "go
ahead on your own risk" would be satisfactory feedback):

The first three patches have been reviewed by at least one person each.
