I intend to try it out when I can. The Fortran support in Autoconf and
Libtool is in dire need of more test exposure, so that we have a chance
to measure the impact of changes like this one without waiting for bug
reports after the next release to trickle in.
For example, even with this patch, libtool-generated shared libraries
will likely not get the right treatment here (whatever that is; it
depends upon the libraries we're looking at here).
