I was wondering if libstdc++ was the only one running into this problem.

My local tree contains this exact same fix, as part of my 2.50 experiments.
I won't be checking any of them in until after the 15th, though, since
we're trying to keep the trunk and branch as close together as possible
(lockstep, in theory).
